A week in Seminyak at Villa Makasih

This year we decided to return back to Bali for our first holiday as a family of four. With its array of amazing cafes and beaches and being so close to everything, we couldn’t wait to get back to Seminyak. When travelling we generally split our time up between a big resort and also a villa. We love having our own little space and somewhere we can cook meals, so a villa is perfect for this!

You’ll find when you start searching for villas in Seminyak you’re totally spoilt for choice, and it’s kind of overwhelming. How do you choose? Last year I booked our Seminyak accomodation through a great site called Villa-Bali.com. It’s basically like a search engine where you can enter all of your requirements and it will narrow it down and select the villas that match what you’re after. We just loved the villa we booked through Villa-Bali.com last year (you can take a look here), so decided to go with them again and book Villa Makasih.

When it comes to booking accomodation, I’m generally pretty fussy, no surprises there, right? The main factors for me as a family are location, interiors (of course, ha!), and safety. You’ll find the majority of villas in Bali are all open to the pool, which is something I just am never comfortable with having little ones around. So one of my key requirements is that the bedrooms and living areas are shut off to the pool. I loved that we were able to be in each room safely and I never had to worry.

It’s no secret that Seminyak can get a little crazy at times; upon entering Villa Makasih we immediately relaxed into holiday mode. It’s like you’ve stepped into your own private little sanctuary.

The villa is made up of two bedrooms, both with their own beautiful outdoor, rainforest style bathrooms. The beds are both huge and Eva thought it was pretty darn sweet having a huge bed to roll around in. Villa-Bali.com accommodates families so well; we chose to have a cot and highchair and they were both set up and ready to go upon arrival.

The location of Villa Makasih was just perfect for us. It’s a 10 minute walk to the beach, and if you go the other way, just 5 minutes to the main strip in Seminyak.

We chose to eat out quite a lot, don’t miss my fave cafes below, but it was great to have a full size kitchen when the little ones were napping and we could just make something at our villa. When you book through Villa-Bali.com you can select to have breakfast included, something I would totally recommend to do. Our lovely housekeeper, Agung, arrived each morning at our chosen time and made us a delicious breakfast. We also arranged our transfers through Villa-Bali.com and each time the driver arrived on time and with baby car seats.

Villa Makasih was such a great little home for us during the week stay in Seminyak. It’s nice and quiet, close to everything and the pool is just lush, the perfect little family home. We loved booking through Villa-Bali.com; it’s super easy to use and being our second time booking, we know we’re going to be staying somewhere we absolutely love.

Oh, and if you’re looking for somewhere to eat in Seminyak, I’ve got a few must-visits for you. For all the healthy and delicious food definitely hit up Cafe Organic and Shelter Cafe. If you’re craving a quiet, family meal, Italian at Ultimo is the goods and the air con is heaven. For date night you cannot go past U Look Hot In A Bikini (aka Bikini Restaurant) and for a family dinner watching the sunset our pick would have to be Mano Beach House.
